Movement cues: Balance – Absorption, retraction, and extension. Flexing And Extending Movements – to control pressure and to actively aid in absorption, retraction, and extension to maintain ski snow contact and balance. Tipping The Feet And Legs – quicker edging and release movements while developing enhanced edge sensitivity. Turning The Feet And Legs – turning both feet and legs with a focus on turn shape. Sample Progression: Guests wanting to learn bumps and bump skiers alike will need to refine their flexing and extending movements, focus on their edging movements for speed control, tactically choose a line, and have the ability to move from line to line. Short Turns – assess the guest for speed control, balance and pole plant. Pivot Slips – on groomed terrain, in the fall line. Focus on the ability to find a flat ski while staying in the fall line, turning both the feet and legs, and maintaing a countered position. Linked Hockey Stops – on groomed terrain. Skills are the same as a pivot slip, but add a pole touch at the end of flexion, and have an active extension for release into a straight run. Absorption – make long turns in easy bumps on an edged ski. Anticipate the absorption of the bump by retraction, as the skis go down the back side of the bump extend your legs. Focus on ski snow contact and a quiet upper body. Retraction Turns – perform on groomed terrain. Focus on the timing of the pole plant. Plant the pole at the end of flexion and extend the legs while shaping the turn. Lines: #1 Cut bump in half #2 Turn around bump and go uphill.     #3 Turn around bumps. #4 Zipper line.
